A 2014 study by the European Journal of Sport Science found positive changes in mood for recreational dancers.
Not unlike a "runner's high," rhythmic movement has been shown to trigger the release of endorphins, which can boost your mood.”
Dance not only instills grace, but it also helps you age gracefully. According to a study in The New England Journal of Medicine, dancing may boost your memory and prevent you from developing dementia as you get older. Science reveals that aerobic exercise can reverse volume loss in the hippocampus, the part of the brain that controls memory. The hippocampus naturally shrinks during late adulthood, which often leads to impaired memory and sometimes dementia.” ... See more
Millions of children and teens injure themselves playing sports. The potential solution is the same: Fall like a dancer. Techniques taught in dance classes increase body awareness and encourage low-impact landings. These techniques are not only useful for dancers on stage but for athletes who play impact sports and children developing motor skills.
According to Emily Sandow, supervisor of dance physical therapy at NYU Langone's Harkness Center for Dance Injuries, compared with dancers, "athletes generally have more knee injuries, specifically ACL injuries, and we think that the specific jump training that dancers do could be prevention for knee injuries such as a ACL tear."
Sandow explains that the moves and routines dancers are taught require elongated movements and full extensions, which leads to "less force generated on their body." This movement control is why, she says, "you've seen the Method football player taking class with a dainty ballerina. To learn good alignment."” ... See more

Congratulations to another one of CSDA's amazing graduating seniors! We know you will do great things! ❤️
Future plans ~ I will attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and major in nursing.
Your favorite CSDA memory? Watching Grace, Addison, and Cherish do Hip Hop to Christian music:)
What does dance mean to me? Dance is a thing I can do with my friends but also relieve stress.

Cindy is teaching! Make sure your heart is in it! ... See more

Congratulations to another one our Seniors! Sophie Martin, we wish you the best😊
Plans after graduation- I will attend Arizona State University and major in Business while continuing to dance.
My favorite CSDA memory- not really a memory but being able to connect with so many new girls and make a ton of new friendships. These girls truly made this year amazing and I wish nothing but the best for each and every one of them. I will never forget Maegan's quietness, Cherish's pole dancing, Riley's jokes, Addison's sarcastic comments, Grace's sick moves, Morgan's galaxy shirts, or Maggie's parental guidance. Lastly, thank you to Mrs. Cindy and Mr. Emmanuel for teaching me so much this year and being so kind to me.
What does dance mean to you- dance is the one thing in my life that makes me happy no matter what. It is my outlet when I'm feeling sad or angry. It allows me to be myself and to express whatever emotion I'm feeling. I've connected with hundreds of dancers all over the world through this art form and love that no matter what language you speak, dance is universal.
Words of wisdom and encouragement for CSDA. Dancers - never give up. Find your passion and stick with it for as long as possible. This world is harsh and cruel, especially for dancers, so keep your head up high and remain confident in yourself. Also, don't ever conform to societies standards. Be yourself in everything you do. I love each and everyone of you at CSDA and want to thank you for opening up to me and allowing me to join your dance family. I will miss you guys so much.

Congratulations to one of our graduating seniors from CSDA! Aaliyah Farris, we are so proud of you and wish you the best!❤️
Plans after graduation?
I plan on attending Southern University where I plan on majoring in sociology.
Favorite CSDA memory?
My favorite CSDA moment was when we were at competition practice and we could not get the timing right for a Bollywood dance move so Mrs. Cindy got mad and did it the correct way and while doing it she stated “If you don’t get it right I’m going to have an aneurysm” I can still hear her bracelet clinging while she did the move!
What does dance mean to me?
Dance mean so much more to me than just a hobby is like every time I step into the studio I forget about all my problems.
Words of wisdom?
Take it one piqué at a time and enjoy it while it lasts! ... See more
Congratulations to one of our graduating Seniors at CSDA! Joei Bailey we are so proud of you! Joei has been at CSDA for 15 years!
What are your future plans after graduation?
I plan on going to college at ULM. While I am there I hope I will finally figure out what I want to major in.
Favorite CSDA memory?
Years ago in one of my ballet dances Miss Cindy had to choose
someone to be in swing at the beginning of the dance and she choose me. I remember being so excited and nervous about getting to be on stage by myself for .5 seconds. I went home told my mom all about it. I even remember the song we danced too, Dream by Priscilla Ahn.
What does dance mean to you?
I think of dance as something that brings people together. I have met so many great people through dance. I met one of my best friends through dance, Aailyah Farris. It has brought me happiness and made me laugh countless times.
What words of encouragement/wisdom do you have for younger CSDA dancers?
Don’t take it so seriously, have fun with it. Love every minute of it because it will be gone before you know it. ... See more
